Introduction

As the economy of Hong Kong grows and changes so does the demand for the design and construction of new buildings and the maintenance and refurbishment of existing buildings. The demand on the resources of the Building Industry is also likely to increase as the government and the private sector continue to demand high quality buildings built on time and for a reasonable price. In addition to operations within Hong Kong itself, the industry can expect to play an increasing role in adjacent regions of the People's Republic of China, particularly in the field of construction project management.

It is to cater for these increases in demand for trained manpower, equipped with up-to-date skills, that the Department of Building and Construction has developed its present courses; with the future in mind to provide students with a good understanding of the building process relevant to your particular course and intended profession.
